The CPR (HLTAID009) certificate must be renewed every 12 months to maintain current competency, as per Safe Work Australia guidelines. Regular renewal ensures your life-saving skills remain up-to-date with the latest techniques and guidelines. Refresher training can be completed through Accelerate First Aid, your trusted Registered Training Organisation.
Our efficient CPR course is designed to fit into your busy schedule. It combines approximately 1 hour of online theory learning with a rapid 45min face-to-face practical assessment. The online component can be completed at your own pace before attending the practical session, making it convenient for working professionals.
Many employers cover CPR training costs as it's a common workplace requirement. If you're completing the course for work purposes, it may also be tax-deductible. We recommend checking with your employer about their reimbursement policies and consulting your tax professional regarding potential deductions.
Australian certification standards require in-person assessment of CPR skills. You must demonstrate correct CPR technique on a manikin for at least 2 minutes and show competency with an AED (defibrillator). While theory can be learned online, practical skills assessment is essential to ensure you can respond effectively in real emergencies. Our HLTAID009 course is fully accredited and meets all workplace requirements.
Participants must be at least 14 years old and have internet access for the online theory component. Physical requirements include the ability to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a floor-level manikin, which involves repeated chest compressions and getting up and down from the floor. Basic English language skills are necessary to understand and follow instructions. Contact us before booking if you have any concerns about meeting these requirements.
Our HLTAID009 course covers essential CPR skills including: assessing emergency situations, checking for danger, calling for help, performing chest compressions and rescue breaths, using an AED (defibrillator), and managing an unconscious breathing casualty. You'll learn the latest Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and practice with professional training equipment.
Please bring photo ID, wear comfortable clothing suitable for floor-based practical exercises, and ensure you've completed the online theory component before attending. We provide all necessary training equipment including manikins and AED trainers. Consider bringing water and a pen for notes.
Yes, our HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation course is nationally accredited and recognised throughout Australia. The certification meets workplace requirements across all states and territories and complies with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines.
CPR certification (HLTAID009) focuses specifically on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation skills. It's shorter and more focused than the full First Aid course (HLTAID011), which covers additional topics like wound care, fractures, and medical emergencies. Some workplaces require only CPR, while others need full First Aid certification.
During the practical assessment, you'll demonstrate CPR on a manikin, show correct AED use, and respond to simulated emergency scenarios. Our trainers provide supportive guidance throughout. If you don't pass initially, we offer free reassessment opportunities to ensure you achieve competency while maintaining high standards.
If you have questions about the opportunities available to you in our programs, send us a message.
We will get back to you as soon as possible.
