The 22556VIC & 22300VIC combined Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of issue. However, many workplaces and education providers recommend annual refresher training to maintain confidence and competency in emergency response procedures. Refresher training can be completed through Accelerate First Aid.
Our combined Asthma and Anaphylaxis course takes approximately 4 hours online and 1.5 hrs face to face to complete. This includes both theory and practical components, ensuring you receive comprehensive training in managing both asthma emergencies and severe allergic reactions. The course is designed to be time-efficient while covering all essential skills and knowledge.
This training is mandatory for education and care service workers, including teachers, childcare workers, and after-school care staff. It's also highly recommended for sports coaches, youth workers, disability support workers, and anyone working in environments where they may need to respond to asthma or severe allergic reactions.
You'll learn to: identify asthma and anaphylaxis symptoms, use asthma relievers and spacers, administer adrenaline auto-injectors (EpiPens), follow emergency action plans, communicate with emergency services, and maintain relevant documentation. The course covers both prevention strategies and emergency response procedures.
No formal prerequisites are required. However, participants should have basic English language skills to understand emergency procedures. The course involves practical demonstrations, so you should be able to handle medical devices like auto-injectors and asthma spacers. Contact us if you have any concerns about meeting these requirements.
Yes, the 22556VIC & 22300VIC combined course meets all requirements set by the Education and Care Services National Regulations and ACECQA. It's nationally recognized and complies with the training requirements for education and childcare services across Australia.
We provide all necessary training equipment including trainer adrenaline auto-injectors (EpiPens), asthma inhalers, spacer devices, and action plan templates. You'll get hands-on experience with the same devices you might need to use in a real emergency.
Asthma and severe allergic reactions can both be life-threatening emergencies that require immediate response. Many workplaces require staff to be trained in both as the conditions can sometimes present similarly and may co-exist. This combined course ensures you're prepared for both types of emergencies.
Assessment includes both theory and practical components. You'll need to demonstrate correct use of asthma relievers, spacers, and adrenaline auto-injectors. Written assessment ensures understanding of emergency procedures and action plans. We provide support to ensure you're confident and competent in all required skills.
Yes, our course content is regularly updated to align with the latest guidelines from the Australian Resuscitation Council and ASCIA (Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy). You'll learn the most current emergency response procedures and best practices.
